This is a Licensed B&B that has recently opened in the Gettysburg area. "The Abbey" sits on 1824 sq ft and is a historic colonial home built in 1830 through 1933. General Lee marched his troops by this Manor in Cashtown Pennsylvania which is only located within 7 minutes from the famous Gettysburg battlefield! The Abbey, has such stunning original hand crafted historic architecture through the entire Manor from top to bottom of home with original design and wide planked flooring throughtout. Our historic B&B also has a original Smoke house on the property where years ago they smoked all their fresh meats. On the same property, a elegant small cottage and a delightful historic red bank barn where Lillian Brown kept her two beautiful Arabian horses that President Dwight Eisenhower had given to her. Lillian Brown was also President Eisenhower's Secretary. Miss Brown had owned and lived on this same property for over 20 years. President Dwight Eisenhower and wife Mamie use to come and visit this house quite frequently. "The Abbey", is close to two wineries in either direction. Somethings to do around the area would be train rides, visiting a miniature horse farm, fresh fruit stands/orchards, battlefield tours and Civil War ghost walks.
